Grades K-3
What do I need to do?
Each classroom will assemble a themed basket via monetary or material donations. Since the schools have all begun incorporating classes of all elementary levels, we've been intentional in our requests for each school and grade level:
Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade and 3 Grade:
Each class will produce their own individual baskets
As a K-3 classroom representative, you're in charge of coordinating your classroom's basket. Don't worry--it's not as difficult as it sounds! Just follow our easy steps:
Step 1: Pick a theme
We know not everyone has the creative knack, and we're all busy. So to help out, we've provided some example basket themes to give you some inspiration. We recommend picking one of these to make things easy, but if you have your own ideas, by all means feel free to use them!
Step 2: Register your classroom's basket theme
In order to prevent duplicate themes and ensure we have a variety of baskets, we ask that you register your classroom's preferred themes. We ask that you submit your top three choices to reduce the back-and-forth necessary between you and the committee. Registration also ensures the committee has a point-of-contact for your classroom, in case we need to nag you. (Not that we'd need to--right?!?! 😜)
Registration is easy! Just fill out our registration form.
Step 3: Wait for confirmation of your classroom's basket theme
A committee member will email you at the email address provided in the form confirming your classroom's theme.
Please do not continue to step 4 until you receive confirmation.
We want to prevent having duplicate baskets, because that makes the auction less fun.
Step 4: Collect donations from your classroom
Now the fun part! Collect monetary and/or material (but material donations can be tough to work into your basket depending on what you get) donations from the other caregivers in your class. We know that it can be stressful to ask for these, so we've tried to make things easy on you. Use our provided letter template (Google account/docs required) and customize it with your own information. Distribute this letter to the other caregivers in your classroom via email from the list you received at the beginning of the school year. You can also ask your teacher if they'll put it in the student's folders to take home as well. Feel free to also reach out on Facebook groups or any other means of communication you have with the other caregivers in your classroom. (Morse code and carrier pigeons are good last resorts if you need to use them)
Please note that while donations are not required, a good suggested monetary amount is $20 per child. Any donation is appreciated!
Step 5: Make your basket
Once you have collected your donations, you can convert the cash into basket items (unless you're going for that cash basket!). Package those items up into a physical basket (or basket-like entity) and then let the committee know you're ready to go. Don't worry about wrapping up the basket in plastic or cellophane; our professional basket wrappers are standing by to put the final touches on for you.
Please have baskets ready by April 12, 2025 (or earlier).
When your basket is ready, email evwbasketauction@gmail.com to coordinate drop-off.
DO NOT SEND YOUR BASKET IN TO SCHOOL WITH YOUR CHILD.
